Maul or simply known during this era as “The Shadow” was once the apprentice of Emperor Palpatine having trained in the ancient ways of the bogan. He was a formidable warrior, possessing strong force abilities and deadly lightsaber combat skills. However tragedy struck. After losing a duel to Obi-Wan Kenobi everyone thought he was dead, including his master “Darth Sidious” which meant the people moved on from him. He lost his place as a lord and wallowed in his anger using the bogan to cling to life after being cut in half. After regaining some life and destabilizing himself his brother found him angry and hateful, learning that his master took on a new apprentice however he still believed he was a dark lord and took his brother as an apprentice. He then made a plan to overthrow his old master and rule the galaxy, setting his sights on mandalore. After his siege on mandalore, He took time to expand his criminal empire “the Shadow Collective” gaining ties with different crime families across the galaxy. This is how he planned to take revenge on his master, not by being loud, not by demanding revenge but by working in the shadows.

Why do you think you should be this character?:
I think I should be this character because I hold strong knowledge on who maul is and have previous experience with all jedi, sith and mandalorian roleplay aspects. Other previous experiences have also given me knowledge on special operation roleplay, running and manning small units/squads and general leadership knowledge. I believe I can make the Shadow Collective a powerful and dominant faction that demands respect and attention from the members of the Imperial Army on the planet not through loud declarations or reckless actions but through cold and calculated moves. My clan will be expected to follow my word and my word alone, Through this calculated leadership my clan and I shall run the underworld. Making it truly the denizen of crime.
What roleplay do you plan on having with this character?:
My plan is to rule the underworld in a whole new way. The plan is to foster an entire criminal empire with the citizens and criminals of the underworld. Buying out Civilian Merchants, bounty hunters or others looking for some work to contract massive gun and material orders to spread within our ranks and fund partisan cells within the underworld to cause additional chaos whilst also providing protection and escorts to sell and move those drugs, weapons and materials for us. Additionally I'm going to plan out bank heists, run snatch and grab operations to drain the empire of intel we can use or ransom them off to the highest bidder.
What could you offer to the server if you were given this character?:
I can offer a unique and fun twist to underworld RP, instead of relying on gamemasters and event characters to create the RP I can force it and make it a dangerous and unwelcoming place for the Imperial Army through in-character actions like bounties placed on officers, patrol leaders, and informants to disrupt their operations and spread paranoia. Public and private contracts to encourage scare tactics like anonymous threats, sabotage, rumor-spreading, and quiet displays of defiance in their controlled zones to make them feel constantly watched and pressured . In addition to that I can give Civilian Merchants and other Civilians something to do in the underworld besides grinding for money and crafting levels. I wish to provide an extra depth to the underworld because I believe it can and should be a bigger and more important part of the servers identity and flavor.
How could you improve the roleplay of the server?:
As previously stated, I want to improve the underworld RP to make it more accurate to what it would be like, a shadowy web of the galaxy's scum. Dangerous criminals, Bounty Hunters, Smugglers, Information brokers, mercenaries and crime syndicates operating just out of reach of the imperial army. I want to give the imperials a reason to send their forces into the underworld. Whether it be to deal with increasing issues of Drug Rings, Partisan Cells or other actions set up and funded by us. We are going to force the Imperial Forces to attempt to find the shadows and drive us out, forcing them to fight tooth and nail for every inch in the underworld constantly trying to chase false leads set-up and orchestrated by the shadows.
How active can you be in this position?:
I would say I have a pretty open schedule and will be on most-days dedicating several hours to the position as maul and leading the shadow collective. Most likely I would spend at least 2-3 hours on the server dedicated to being maul and leading the shadow collective as I have no other command positions on the server.
What is the Shadow Collective, and why is Maul uniquely suited to lead it?:
The Shadow Collective is one of the single largest crime syndicates the Star Wars Galaxy has ever seen. Uniting the Deathwatch, Pyke Syndicate, Black Sun, the Hutt Families, and the Crimson Dawn under a single banner. Maul manipulated them from the shadows pulling strings and creating opportunities for each to undermine them and pull them together. The Shadow Collective was created by Maul so he can secure his own future and power-base outside of the Empire, in the attempt to undermine his previous master. Maul is uniquely qualified to lead it because he understands how to manipulate and control the emotions of others. He thrives in the chaos of the Star Wars Universe with inter-faction relationships and manipulating actions in time of open warfare between the factions to his benefit. He is insanely smart and cunning, he understands criminal enterprise, he has great knowledge about warfare and was directly taught Sith doctrine and the Sith way. Last but not least his adaptability, almost second to none in the universe he has survived and talked his way out of almost any corner he got him stuck into.
- In-Character Questions -
• The Empire has begun to crackdown on the Shadow Collective dismantling one of your key criminal fronts. Several lieutenants demand immediate retaliation. Write the response Maul would give in this situation •
Response:
Maul would sit in a dimly lit room, face covered by the shadows surrounded by his captain and lieutenants. He would sit crouched over holding his saber in one hand and his other raised to his cheek, propping up his head.
"Patience, let the Empire be so blissfully ignorant in thinking we will show our hand and strike immediately, we will reveal ourselves when it shows some benefit to us. I will not hastily strike out and threaten our other operations, no not yet. Stalk, lurk and plant false leads in the shadows and we shall see their next course of action.”
• Your lieutenants have started acting in your name without consulting you. Write a short in-character response on how Maul would handle this situation. •
Response:
In a dark alleyway somewhere deep in the underground maul stands with his lieutenants kneeling before him, He would speak sternly with hints of anger, disappointment and disgust.
““Eager…. Impatient….and prideful. Such dangerous traits to have in unruly Lieutenants no? You are to intact my will and my orders not interpret as you see fit! I am the Shadow Collective. I am its will and its soul. I will not tolerate such insolence from you.. Lieutenants. Am I understood or do I need to make a better example of one of you?”
• You discover that ISB is investigating the wrong criminal faction for your actions. Answer this in-character and be sure to reference tone, posture and wording. •
Response:
Maul would stand proudly in a dark apartment overlooking the lowest levels of the underground, a slight smirk on his face as he gives orders to his captain.
“Excellent work on planting those… things for me. Let them waste resources on the leads we planted. We must build our empire more, but be cautious we must stick to the shadows and continue to be a ghost in their system. The longer we stay hidden the more powerful we shall become. Do you understand?”
As he finishes, he waves his captain off.
• An Imperial officer publicly mocks the Shadow Collective as a joke during a briefing you are secretly monitoring. What would you, as Maul do in this situation immediately and over time. •
Response:
Once again sitting in the dimly lit board room, Maul would begin to speak to the collective of his captain and lieutenants. He would speak stern words, hints of disgust and hatred in his words.
“I believe this Imperial Officer has become too safe… to secure in his own city… I want you to gather information about him. I want to know where he lives, where he sleeps, when he sleeps everything in his life. I want his own Imperial Officers to cast him out. Ruin his life. Do what you believe is appropriate, Plant evidence, Spread misinformation whatever is required to ruin his reputation. But do not publicly strike. Work from the shadows. Dismissed… ”
• A rival crime syndicate offers to pledge loyalty in exchange for you revealing yourself. They promise fear and unity. How do you respond to this offer? •
Response:
Maul sits at a table across from the family who requested a meeting, his right next to him. Maul seems disgusted at what he is hearing. He is sitting leaning forward looking disgusted at the leads of the family in front of him. His voice reeks of disgust and anger.
“You ask me to reveal myself for your loyalty? You impudent lot have done nothing but hamper our operations and you expect me to bend the knee for you to join us…. No. Instead I'll ask you this, why should I accept your loyalty?
- Weeks pass without Maul issuing a single order.
• What effect does this have on the Collective, and how is it intentional?
Response:
Maul sits atop a roof in the underworld, cloaked watching his collective operate. Muttering to himself about the collective. Quiet and chaotic.
“My Collective needs to be able to function without me… They need to enact my will and not stray from the path I set them upon. I require dedication and loyalty to my cause. I require them not to merely interpret my will but to enact it in my absence. They are built up to last and run without my direct intervention baby-sitting them. Let us see who will break without orders and who will rise to the top…”
